C’est la vie
Duo show with Anna Zanichelli curated by Yuna Mathieu-Chovet at Plagiarama Gallery

Carole Louis creates sculptures, installations and performances. She uses everyday objects to
elaborate playful, caustic displays. Her colorful universe gives us a forced laugh, underlines the
mechanisms of social violence at work and probes the power of contradictory injunctions at the heart
of the human being.

Anna Zanichelli is interested in the production of waste, and gives it a second life through her
sculptures. She collects vegetable packaging nets or used nitrous oxide capsules, in reference to their
recreational use. She identifies human practices and aspirations, thus pointing the underlying values
that prevail in our social landscape.

Carole Louis and Anna Zanichelli use everyday materials and objects in their work. They develop
a language that is sometimes narrative and corrosively humorous, and sometimes more abstract,
drawing a factual portrait of a disoriented society on the brink of collapse. Both give the public a critical
reflection of the society in which they live, adding a touch of humor, the courtesy of despair.
